Fiscal
Sponsorships
As a nonprofit, tax-exempt media arts center, qualified under
section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, IMAGE
acts as a conduit for charitable contributions from public
funding agencies, foundations and private individuals to independent
film and video producers, artists and arts organizations.
In order to use IMAGE as a sponsoring organization, the producer
is required to complete a two-page
form describing the project, including a budget and possible
funding sources. The
application is reviewed by a committee of the Board of
Directors on an ongoing basis. The committee will consider
all submitted applications,
but give preference to non-commercial projects which have
the greatest potential benefit from this program.
Grant Applications
Generally, the producer prepares and submits his or her own
applications to various potential funders. IMAGE will provide
all supplementary information and documents required by the
funder (i.e. IRS tax-exempt letter of determination, list
of Board of Directors, etc.). The producer must provide a
copy of any applications submitted under IMAGEs fiscal
sponsorship program two weeks in advance of the deadline
for review by the IMAGE staff. The producer must also give
advance notice of all potential funders for their project
in order to avoid possible conflict of interest with IMAGE
funders.
Grant Awards and Individual Donations
The funder (municipal arts council, foundation, corporation
or individual) will write a check to IMAGE film & video
center. IMAGE will then write a check, minus the administrative
fee, to the producer. The producer is responsible for all
correspondence with the donors, including thank you notes,
receipts, notice of screenings and other matters. Copies of
this correspondence must be forwarded to IMAGE for inclusion
in our files.
Project Administration
All fiscal sponsorship participants must be active members
of IMAGE film & video center. Individual membership is
$45.00 and membership is valid for one full year from the
date of issuance. Fiscal Sponsorship contracts should be renewed
yearly for active projects. The producer must submit quarterly
reports on the progress of the project.
Administrative Fees
IMAGE charges a flat fee of 7% for budgets up to $100,000
cash. For budgets over $100,000 cash, IMAGE will negotiate
a fee with the producer.
Georgia Premiere/Right of Refusal
IMAGE film & video center retains the rights for the Georgia
premiere of all fiscally sponsored projects, but does not
guarantee a screening at the Atlanta Film Festival or monthly
screenings.
