General Information:

What is Rapid i Movement?

It is a team competition for filmmakers of all ages to produce short form films in 50 hours! All creativity (from script to post production) takes place in a 50 hour period beginning after 7pm, usually on a Friday, and ending when each filmmaking “team” turns in a finished DVD on the following Sunday at 9pm. Nothing can be created in advance. This contest is open to filmmaking teams of all sizes. Teams may use any type of video or film camera(s).

Who Can Participate?

Open to professionals, students, and amateurs who will be in the Atlanta the weekend of RiM. There is no age limit for participants, except for the team captain who must be 18 years or older.

How Much Is It To Participate?

Team registration is $50. Team registrations are non-transferable nor non-refundable. (Registration is free when you sign-up for select IMAGE Workshops.)

Single registeration for the ala carte team is $10. This is perfect for those who want to get their feet wet with filmmaking and Rapid i Movement but don't already have a team.

Benefits and Awards (AKA WIIFM-What's In It For Me?)

  • Teams own their own work!
  • Finalists have their films programmed in the 2008 Atlanta Film Festival
  • Finalists are also eligible for additional select prizes and/or awards that will be announced during the film festival.
  • Teams who finish and turn in there films in the 50 hour period and participate in the public screenings will have their films streamed online for an additional “wild card” online voting competition from which 2 add’l films will advance to the Rapid i Movement finals in the 2008 Atlanta Film Festival.
  • The films that screen at the Atlanta Film Festival (as well as other select notable works) will have their films broadcast to over 500,000 within the Greater Atlanta Market on Comcast On-Demand.
  • In addition, winning teams will also receive 2 Atlanta Film Festival filmmaker badges (a value of $500) that offers access to their screenings and other screenings/events held throughout the 2008 11 day film festival.
  • All RiM films are considered for programming Atlanta Film Festival! The submission phase of the festival has passed, but teams that aren't finalists in the regular voting or online voting are still looked at for possible screening in the fest. Great work is great work and we want Atlanta audiences to see it.
