Festival 101 (or what you SHOULD and SHOULD NOT do when entering your film to AFF… or any other festival. This is our annual festival talk that will be a one-on-one conversation with Dan Krovich, Festival Programmer for both the Atlanta Film Festival and Out On Film Festival. Moderated by Gabe Wardell, Executive Director of IMAGE, Gabe will probe Dan to get an an insider’s view relevant to entering either AFF and OOF. As past programmers, both Dan and Gabe will also give helpful hints when entering other film festivals as well. Come get the inside scoop, coincidentally in the week before the last entry deadline for the 2008 Atlanta Film Festival! F
Directing With An Editor’s Eye Motion Picture Editor, ScreenWriter, Director, and CEO of ChickenFilters, LLC – A Motion Picture Development Company, Joe Binford, Jr., will share his experience working in the film industry around the world as both a writer, director and editor. He will introduce the concept of directing from an editor's perspective and the benefit of this approach for independent filmmakers in their writing and directing technique. He will share stories from the cutting room floors of THE FUGITIVE, RANSOM, FROM HELL, WE ARE MARSHALL, and THE ADVENTURES OF NARNIA-THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE, to name a few. Those who attend this salon will be eligible for the IMAGE member workshop discount to take Joe's upcoming workshop, DIRECTING WITH AN EDITOR’S EYE on May 10th.
Meet And Greet With Some Of Your Local Film Peers! Come meet representatives from a variety of film organizations that offer film education, screenings, film productions and most importantly, a love and passion of film! Each organization will talk about what they do and how to get involved in your community, no matter what area of film is your interest. There are many various groups that have formed to support filmmaking in Georgia, from the grass roots “newbies” to locally and nationally known film organization staples. Getting involved with a variety of film organizations is not only a wonderful way of networking, but also widens your outlet to finding like minds for creative collaboration. Organizations Include The Woman’s Angle, The Dailies, The Meet-Up Group, WIFTA, and Cforty7.com.
IMAGE’s Volunteer Appreciation Party This is our annual “thank you” to all our wonderful volunteers! Last year was a FREE screening, with popcorn and soft drinks on the house! Who knows what we’ll do this year in celebration of those volunteers who will have once again helped us through another great Atlanta Film Festival, Out On Film Festival, as well as all our other IMAGE year-round events!
