 IMAGE Film Awards Gala The IMAGE Film Awards Gala, now in its 8th year, recognizes achievement in Southeastern media arts and is IMAGE’s largest annual fundraising event. Its proceeds support the Atlanta Film Festival and many year-round programs and services IMAGE provides. We are calling on you to make a contribution so that IMAGE may continue to serve and nourish the Atlanta, Georgia and Southeastern film community. We cordially invite you to join the host committee of this extraordinary event. What: The IMAGE Film Awards Gala is IMAGE’s annual fundraising event for the Atlanta Film Festival. A unique and trendy party for Atlanta’s artistic community, complete with live entertainment, an amazing dining experience, and captivating visual presentations. Each year we present IMAGE Film Awards to local media arts professionals/companies in recognition of their contributions to the media arts. We will also present the Ossie Davis Award, to honor creative excellence and dynamic contributions to the art of cinema. The recipient of this award will typify the award’s namesake, who through his creative achievements, promoted human dignity and social justice. When: TBA Where: TBA Who: In the past we have honored: Prominent filmmakers, actors, educators, writers, directors, entrepreneurs and businesses in the film industry. Past honorees include: Cicely Tyson, Spike Lee, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Victor Nuñez, Burt Reynolds, Dallas Austin, Parker Posey and local industry professionals. 2007 Honorees included: 1. Raising funds for IMAGE - The proceeds from this event will allow IMAGE to continue to produce two world class film festivals as well as year-round programming. IMAGE is the premiere resource for Atlanta’s filmmaking community, and provides filmmakers dozens of networking and educational opportunities throughout the year. Through its Rapid “i” Movement and Teen Screen programs, IMAGE provides training and exhibition opportunities to the filmmakers of tomorrow. Competitions such as the Southeastern Media Award provide novice screenwriters and filmmakers with the means to take their careers to the next level. 2. Celebrating the achievements of individuals who have made dynamic contributions to the film industry in Georgia and the Southeast.
