Full Time Staff

Gabriel Wardell
Executive Director

Gabriel Wardell has worked for festivals and non-profits for over a decade, programming for the AFI Silver Theatre and numerous festivals from Maryland to California, producing the inaugural edition of SILVERDOCS: AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival and hosting Cinema Sundays at the Charles in Baltimore for seven years. With a B.A. in Film from Bard College, where he matriculated after graduating from Phillips Academy Andover, he has written film criticism, a sports column, and freelance articles in publications such as Film Threat, The Baltimore Sun, The Jewish Times and City Paper. He also writes an indieWIRE Blog, called “Gabe’s Declaration of Principles.” Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Gabe developed an interest in independent film at an early age—his mother can even be seen in John Waters’ Female Trouble, having her monster beehive hair-do teased silly by Dribbles.

Dan Krovich
Festival Director

Dan Krovich spent his academic career in science, receiving a B.S. in chemistry from the College of William and Mary and a Ph.D. in pharmacology and molecular sciences from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His passion for film led him to pursue a career in that arena leading to the position of programming administrator at The Maryland Film Festival where he served for six years. During his time there, he also worked on several film productions including SWIMMERS and SYRIANA. Additionally, he has served as a reader for the Maryland Filmmaker's Fellowship in conjunction with the Sundance Institute, been on the programming committee for the underground film festival MicroCineFest, and participated in the Maryland Humanities Council's Youth Film Jam.

Elizabeth Hamilton
Education Program Director

Elizabeth Hamilton has lived in Georgia since 1990 and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia. Prior to working at IMAGE, she spent seven years as a Freelance Production Coordinator for both television commercials and videos. During this time, she also gained experience handling assistant direction and location scouting duties for independent and feature films. Elizabeth's film industry background bridges the gap between budding independent filmmakers and more seasoned leaders in the film and video industry. As Education Program Director, Hamilton spearheads programming of filmmaker workshops, monthly networking salons and monthly screenings. As part of her role at IMAGE, she brings influential film industry professionals from throughout the United States to participate in the Atlanta Film Festival panel discussions.

Paula Martinez
Managing Director

Paula Martinez holds an MBA from Mercer University and a B.A. in Social Sciences from Oglethorpe University, where her areas of concentration were philosophy and political science. Paula is relatively new to the film industry but has an extensive background in management, mostly health care administration. Paula left her position of Director of Specialty Services with Piedmont Healthcare in October 2006 and completed her MBA. With a passionate love of movies, Paula is active in a variety of Atlanta independent film/media groups, Paula has appeared in independent films and commercials.

Charles Judson
Communications Director
Charles Judson, a rare Atlanta native, is a staple in the local independent film and video community.  Charles studied computer science at Georgia Tech and concentrated on communications at Kennesaw State University.  First and foremost, Charles is known for his writing, some of which include film reviews for CinemATL, advertising spots for Google, YaHoo! and Infospace, and he penned the lead article for OZ magazine’s 2007 Atlanta Film Festival program guide.  As a specialist in search-engine optimization, Charles ensures IMAGE is current, accessible and relevant.  Because of his deep passion and involvement in the film and media communities, Charles is committed to exposing, increasing and expanding the awareness of Out On Film and The Atlanta Film Festival.
